Block Printing also known as relief print, is one of the oldest techniques, and has been around for thousands of years. There is evidence that it existed as early as the fifth century BC, with roots in India, China and Japan.
There are many different techniques, but it is essentially using a carved material covered in ink to transfer an image on to paper or fabric. Block printing can be done with wood, linoleum, rubber among other materials.
Block prints make beautiful cushions, throws, runners for bedding.
Having an ASTM rating of either 1-2, indicates permanence. They are lightfast so they will neither fade nor break down over time
